Tina and her husband Timothy moved from California to Arizona in 2018, leaving behind their adult children and extended family and trusting God with their next chapter. As new believers, they visited 11 churches before finding their true home at SouthGate. Tina spent 15 years in special education and another 15 in hospitality—two careers that uniquely prepared her for the fulfilling role she now has, where both her passions and faith come together. Tina and Timothy, who also serves as an Usher, have a son and a daughter—rounding out “the four T’s.” They also have two beloved rescue dogs, and to say they are spoiled would be an understatement.
Tina never imagined she’d work in ministry; she thought her life experiences disqualified her. After moving to Arizona, she planned to retire, with her kids grown and beginning their own lives. But as the saying goes, “Tell God your plans, and He laughs.” In a divine twist, God placed them just five houses down from an associate pastor at SouthGate who saw something in Tina that Tina didn’t yet see in herself. What began as a small, three-hour-a-week role grew into a full-time calling. Tina learned firsthand that God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. Drawing on her unique strengths and the support of her church family, she now helps others discover their gifts and grow in faith to build God’s kingdom. Today, she serves as SouthGate’s Administrative Director, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the church. She also leads the Children’s Ministry and serves on the Women’s Ministry Team.
Pastor Andrew may be the soul of SouthGate, but Tina is the heart. Her warmth and care are woven into everything we do. Whether it’s adding a thoughtful detail to make someone feel seen, creating a welcoming atmosphere, or simply noticing what others might miss, Tina brings a unique perspective and sees through a different lens. She has a gift for making people feel like they belong, and her quiet strength and creativity have helped shape the culture of SouthGate in ways both big and small. Tina reminds us that sometimes the most meaningful ministry happens in the unnoticed moments—through a smile, a kind word, or a simple act of care.
A true California girl at heart, Tina finds her peace and deepest connection with God at the beach. When she’s not serving alongside her husband, you might find her soaking up joy at Disneyland or making memories around a campfire with her church family. She proudly holds the title of Snack Queen—always ready to share a treat. You’ll have to move quick to catch her on a Sunday morning—she’s usually filling an open spot in a ministry or zipping across campus looking for something! But she’s easy to spot; just look for the one rocking her signature Vans and a matching bow in her hair. Her timeless style and easygoing spirit reflect her deep joy in the little things.
More than anything, Tina’s heart beats for people. Her love, encouragement, and behind-the-scenes support help make SouthGate feel like home. Tina’s love for people is genuine, her faith is steady, and her playful spirit brings joy wherever she goes. We’re so thankful for the way she pours her heart into SouthGate—it wouldn't be the same without her.
