Aligned With Heaven Not Earth
Matthew 7:21 ESV
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the
kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father
who is in heaven.
Is Jesus Lord of your life? __________. If you say, “yes”. What
does that mean? How do you know?
John 12:49 Ampl
For I have never spoken on My own initiative or authority,
but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment
regarding what to say and what to speak.
II Timothy 2:24-26 BSB
The servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome, but must be kind
to everyone, able to teach, and forbearing. 25He must gently
reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant
them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth. 26Then they
will come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who
has taken them captive to his will.
Love does not mean we endorse or support anything or anyone
who opposes the truth of the Word of God.
Matthew 16:23 ESV
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan!
You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind
on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
Peter's problem wasn’t his loyalty or his emotion. It was his
reasoning.
Ephesians 4:22-23 ESV
to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life
and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23and to be renewed in
the spirit of your minds,
Your thoughts are not just neurons firing. They are spiritual
currents. And those currents are being influenced by fear, by pride,
by survival instincts, by others, or by the Holy Spirit.
Unsound reasoning is the most dangerous kind.
Unsound reasoning always has the same flaw: it starts from me
instead of from God.
Matthew 16:6 ESV
Jesus said to them, “Watch and beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
Heb 11:19 NIV
Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead,
and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac
back from death.
Abraham's reasoning was bulletproof because it began with what
was unchanging, God's faithfulness, God's promises, and God's
nature.
The line between aligning with God and aligning with the enemy is
very thin and runs right through our human sinful selfish reasoning.
The moment you start with God, His word His nature, His
faithfulness, and His unchanging love, everything else comes into
focus.
I Corinthians 16:13 NIV
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith;
be courageous; be strong.
