Sharon and her husband Donny began attending SouthGate Church in 2019 after enrolling their daughter in kindergarten at 91st Psalm Christian School. With her daughter starting school full-time, Sharon started looking for work, and God quickly opened a door at the school office. But as life often brings the unexpected, Sharon and Donny were joyfully surprised by the blessing of their second child in 2020. Desiring to spend more time at home with her newborn son, Sharon transitioned to a part-time role. In the summer of 2021, God led her to a new opportunity in the church office at SouthGate.
Since joining the church staff, Sharon has become an essential part of the team. She manages the Sunday bulletin, SouthGate Happenings, and various media projects. She also assists Pastor Andrew and Tina with a variety of day-to-day needs and works closely with Claire Troth, helping with fiscal tasks.
Sharon has been active in many church ministries over the years, including greeting, child check-in, VBS, Fall Festival, Women’s Ministry, and leading and hosting Connect Groups. One of her favorite volunteer roles has been serving at Rio Vista. Around the office, she’s affectionately known as the "Shirley to Tina’s Laverne," always ready for a prank, a laugh, or finding Pastor Andrew’s misplaced keys. For Sharon, working at SouthGate has never felt like just a job—it's simply being with friends and serving the church family she loves.
When not working, serving, or cheering on her kiddos at their various sporting events or dance recitals, Sharon is an avid hiker. Hiking, camping, and just being outdoors are where Sharon feels closest to God, and she shares that love of nature with her children.
Family time is Sharon’‘s greatest joy. Sharon, Donny, and their daughter Lily all serve in various areas of ministry at SouthGate. Their son Lincoln is always ready to lend a hand, bagging meals at Rio Vista or helping his dad make repairs around the property. It’s a family affair, and their heart for service shines through in everything they do.
