Plan Your First Visit to SouthGate Church

We know walking into a new place for the first time can feel a little intimidating - especially a church. Whether you're spiritually curious, were invited by a friend, or are looking for community in South Phoenix, we want you to feel completely comfortable on your first visit.

What to Expect

At SouthGate, we think of our church as family—and for many people, the Sunday morning service is the first step into that family. So, if you're considering a visit, please know that you're warmly invited! You don't need to know anything about the Bible, Christianity, or church customs. You won't be asked to stand up, introduce yourself, or do anything that puts you on the spot.

Service

Our services last about 85 minutes.

We begin with live worship. Our worship team may not be made up of professional musicians and singers, but they are God-loving, Spirit-led people who come together every Sunday to set the tone for our time of worship. Each one brings a heart for worship and a deep desire to share that with us. Their love for the Lord shines through in every note and every melody, creating an atmosphere where we can draw closer to Him. Connecting with God through song is a special moment of intimacy with the Lord that reaches deep into the soul. It’s in those moments of worship that we feel His presence, His love, and a connection that words alone can’t always express. Song lyrics are projected on the screen so you can sing along or engage in worship in whatever way feels most comfortable to you.

After worship, Pastor Andrew or one of our teaching pastors shares a practical, Bible-based message centered on Jesus and relevant to everyday life.

When You Arrive

You will enter through our main gate where you’ll be greeted with a friendly smile. Our greeters are happy to answer any questions you have—whether about where to go, the nursery, or our kids’ programs—and will help you find your way to the Hospitality Center or Sanctuary.

Come as You Are

You'll find a relaxed, welcoming environment. Some people dress up; others wear jeans or shorts. Whether you're in slacks, sandals, or sneakers—you're welcome just as you are.

Come Early and Connect

Join us before the service in our Hospitality area for free hot coffee and a selection of seasonal drinks. Enjoy a free donut, bagel, or other treat. The selections varies each Sunday, but the warm welcome always stays the same. It’s a great time to relax, meet someone new, and settle in before worship begins.

Nursery & SG Kids

Our amazing volunteers are all background checked.

Infants are welcome to stay with their parents during the service, or they can enjoy loving care in our nursery.

Children age 3 through 6th grade are invited to attend our fun and engaging Children’s Church, designed just for them. On the first Sunday of each month, children in 1st-6th grades attend service so they can be a part of our communion service.

Both the nursery and Children’s Church are available during the 10:30 a.m. service.

Our greeters will happily walk you to the right room and help you get checked in.

Before You Leave

Stop by our Welcome Center. We have a small gift for each family to thank you for visiting.
