Jerry and Inez Sesma have been married since 2007 and have three children who have attended 91st Psalm Christian School since Pre-K4. After visiting SouthGate Church for an Easter service in 2019, they quickly felt at home—and they’ve been faithfully serving ever since.
From 2020 to 2024, Jerry and Inez served in Children’s Church. In 2020, Inez attended her first women’s Bible study and was deeply moved by the connection and encouragement she found there. She soon joined the Women’s Ministry team, where she discovered both belonging and purpose in helping other women grow in their faith.
In 2021, Inez transitioned from a 15-year career in the dental field to serve full-time as the administrative assistant in the school office. Meanwhile, Jerry began serving as an usher and volunteering alongside Pastor Andrew in helping with the junior high and high school basketball teams. His commitment and heart for students led to his appointment as assistant coach for both junior high and varsity in 2022. In 2024, Jerry was installed as a Deacon.
In 2025, Pastor Andrew invited Jerry and Inez to lead the Youth Ministry. They say, “It feels like we’ve adopted about 30 more kids!” Their energy, warmth, and passion have made a lasting impact on SouthGate’s next generation.
The Sesmas live life to the fullest. With three kids in sports and dance, their family calendar is always full, but they never let busyness overshadow their love for the Lord. It’s a value they model daily and actively instill in their children and the youth of SouthGate. Jerry brings a light-hearted spirit and playfulness to everything he does—and his love language is cooking! Whether it’s a big church event or a small hangout, he’s always ready to feed anyone and everyone. Inez—armed with a Pinterest board full of wacky and wonderful game ideas—makes every youth group night a fun and unforgettable experience.
The Sesmas are also avid sports fans. Jerry is a loyal (and often heartbroken) Raiders fan, while Inez cheers faithfully for the Arizona Cardinals. Thankfully, they both agree when it comes to basketball and can be found rooting for the Suns.
During the off-season, the Sesma family loves getting away. Whether it's spending Christmas break at Disneyland, hiking the Grand Canyon, or boondocking by the lake, they cherish quiet family time. They enjoy playing no-mercy card games, riding bikes around a campsite, and simply being together.
SouthGate is stronger and more joyful because of the Sesmas and their hearts to serve.
